Welcome to the Kea’au High School Health Room! Our caring staff includes Ms. Jeanette Gilbert, Registered Nurse and Ms. Sabrina Afu, School Health Aide. Our health room staff is always ready to provide students with health assistance as needed.
Hawai'i Keiki
Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn program offers school based health services by a Registered Nurse made possible through a collaborative partnership between University of Hawai’i-Mānoa Nursing and the Hawai’i State Department of Education. The Hawai’i Keiki Nurse works alongside with the SHA. Students who do not have health insurance are still able to receive care from a Hawai’i Keiki Nurse. Parental permission (consent) is required for a child to receive health services from the Nurse Practitioner.
Health Services provided by Keiki Nurse
- Health Screenings for treatable health conditions
- First Aid and Medication
- Prevention and Control of communicable diseases and other health problems
- Emergency Preparedness: Urgent care for illness and injury
- Health Education and Promotion
- Referral to primary healthcare and patient centered health home services Parental Permission (Consent)
- Telehealth visits with a Hawaii Keiki Nurse Practitioner (with parental consent)
What do I need to do in order to have my student receive these services?
In order for a child to receive services from the Nurse Practitioner parental permission (consent) is required.
